About
Chaz

Hi, I’m Chastity Carrillo, though most clients call me Chaz.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor providing therapy in Plano and the Dallas-Frisco area for children, teens, adults, and student athletes.

Many of the people I work with look like they have it together on the outside, but internally they’re carrying anxiety, perfectionism, relationship struggles, childhood wounds, or pressure to always be strong.

Therapy with me is a place to slow down, better understand yourself, and create lasting change. My goal is to make therapy feel genuine, comfortable, and collaborative while also challenging you when it matters most.

Education & Training

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Registered Play Therapist (RPT)
  • M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Southern Methodist University
  • Specialized training in attachment, trauma, and development across the lifespan, including play and activity therapy
Mental Health Therapy, Dallas, Texas, Plano, TX

Who I Help:

I specialize in working with:

  • Student athletes navigating performance pressure, injury, identity, and burnout
  • Children and teens experiencing anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, trauma or family changes
  • Adults working through childhood trauma, attachment wounds, perfectionism, and self-worth
  • Individuals healing from emotionally immature parents, family of origin dynamics, and unhealthy relationship patterns
  • Clients experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, life transitions, and relationship difficulties

My Approach:

Every client is different, so therapy should be too.

My approach is relational and collaborative. I believe meaningful change happens through a genuine therapeutic relationship where you feel both supported and challenged. I draw from attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness, and expressive interventions when appropriate.

I believe symptoms make sense when we understand the experiences that shaped them. Rather than simply reducing anxiety or changing behaviors, we work to understand why those patterns developed in the first place so change feels lasting instead of temporary.

I believe therapy works best when we’re on the same team. My clients know I’ll always be in their corner, but they also jokingly call me “mean” because I ask the questions they’ve been avoiding. I’ll support you, challenge you with compassion, and help you become more aware of the patterns that influence your life and relationships because understanding ourselves honestly is often where lasting change begins.

Outside of the Therapy Room

A few things that shape who I am beyond the therapy office.

Sports

Soccer has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. It taught me resilience, discipline, teamwork, and how to grow through setbacks, which naturally influences my work with student athletes.

Relationships

Some of the most meaningful moments in my life happen with family and friends. Those relationships continue to remind me how deeply we're shaped by the people around us and why connection matters so much to me.

Balance

I believe we do our best work when we also make time to rest. Protecting slow Sundays, staying active, and spending time with the people I love helps me show up grounded and present.

Growth

I value growth over perfection. I'm committed to continuing to learn, reflect, and stay curious because I believe the best therapists never stop doing their own work.
