About
Chaz

Hi, I’m Chastity Carrillo, but my friends and clients call me Chaz. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in DFW/Plano, TX. I work with student athletes, children, teens, and adults who are navigating high expectations, performance pressure, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. My approach to therapy is relational, creative, and grounded in meaningful connection. I strive to make therapy feel human, not clinical. Sessions are shaped around what each client needs, using support, humor, and honest feedback to move toward meaningful change.

What Therapy With Chaz Looks Like

Much of my work centers on supporting student athletes in high school and college who are balancing academics, athletics, identity, and expectations from others. Sports can be an incredible source of connection and growth, but they can also bring anxiety, perfectionism, fear of failure, and burnout. Therapy offers athletes a space to process pressure, develop emotional resilience, and reconnect with who they are beyond performance.

Alongside student athletes, I work closely with children through play therapy and with adults navigating transitions, relationships, anxiety, grief, and self-exploration. I’ve spent years practicing play therapy and recently submitted my Registered Play Therapist (RPT) application. I believe children naturally communicate through play, just as adults communicate through conversation and reflection — and both deserve spaces where they feel safe to be themselves.

Why Choose Chaz

Clients often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure why things feel so heavy — even when life looks “successful” from the outside. I work with people who know how to push themselves, show up, and work hard, but are realizing that grit alone isn’t always enough. Therapy becomes a place to understand what’s underneath the pressure, reconnect with yourself, and build emotional flexibility that supports long-term growth.

I understand the drive to perform, overcome obstacles, and push toward goals — and I also know the cost that can come with it. My approach blends empathy and support with humor, curiosity, and honest feedback. Sessions are shaped around what each client needs, offering both space to feel understood and gentle challenge for those ready to create meaningful change.

Outside of the Therapy Room

A few things that ground me, challenge me, and bring balance outside of sessions.

Movement & Sport

You’ll often find me on a soccer field, volleyball court, or learning pickleball. Movement has always been a grounding and meaningful part of my life.

Community & Connection

I value time with the people who matter most — family, long-time friends, and the relationships that shape who we become.

Rest & Reset

Slow, quiet Sundays are essential for me. Rest, reflection, and intentional downtime help me show up fully in and out of the therapy room.

Curiosity & Growth

I’m always learning through training, experience, and real-life trial and error, and that curiosity shows up in my work as a therapist.

Therapy that helps you get unstuck and move with intention.

Support is available for whatever season you’re in on or off the field.
