Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if therapy is right for me or my child?

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just want support navigating life — that’s a good reason to start. We’re happy to offer a free 15-minute consultation call to explore fit and answer your questions.

What is the intake process like?

Our intake process is simple and supportive. Once you reach out for a consultation by calling our office or filling out the contact form, we’ll schedule a brief 15-minute call to talk about your goals, your needs, and how we can support you. After that, we’ll provide a secure link to gather some basic information and for you to sign consent forms.

What can I expect during the first session?

In your first session, we’ll review the information you provided, dive into what brought you to therapy, and set the foundation for your journey with us.

For kids, the first session is a parent-only consultation where we take time to talk, gather background information, and understand your child’s needs. In the second session, we’ll welcome your child in for their first visit.

What ages do you work with?

We see clients across the lifespan — from tiny 3-year-olds still figuring out how the world works to 81-year-olds who could probably teach us a thing or two. Every age brings its own kind of magic (and beautiful imperfections), and our practice is here to support all of it — every generation, every stage.

Do you offer play therapy?

Yes! We offer play-based therapy for children, which allows them to express themselves in the language they know best — play. It’s a powerful, developmentally-appropriate way to process emotions and build resilience.

How do I talk to my child about starting therapy?

Keep it simple and honest. You might say, “Therapy is a space just for you — where you can play, talk, and get help with things that feel big or confusing.” We’ll work with you to make sure your child feels safe and supported from day one.

Can I attend sessions with my child?

Parent involvement is an important part of our process. We’ll talk with you about when it’s helpful to join sessions, and how we can work together to support your child’s progress at home.

What’s your approach to therapy?

Our style is relational, inclusive, and individualized. We combine creative tools like play and mindfulness with evidence-based practices, always tailoring the experience to meet each client where they are.

What’s the cost of a session?

Therapy is an investment — in your wellbeing, your relationships, and your growth. We believe in making that investment thoughtfully, which is why we always start with a real conversation. We want to get to know you, understand what you're looking for, and walk you through what working together might look like. We also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on need. Reach out to schedule a free 15-minute consultation — we’re happy to answer your questions and help you take the next step.

How long are sessions?

Most sessions are around 50 minutes, and play therapy sessions are typically 45 minutes. We know that life doesn't always fit neatly into a time slot. Sometimes what you're carrying needs a little extra space, and we're human about that. We're here to meet you where you are and adjust when it matters.

Do you offer virtual therapy (telehealth)?

Yes! We provide secure telehealth sessions for teens and adults across Texas. It’s a flexible option that allows you to access support from the comfort of your space.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule sessions. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee.
